Irish police are on high alert after two suspect devices were found ahead of the Queen’s historic visit there today.
The first device – an improvised bomb – was found last night in the luggage compartment of a bus on the outskirts of Maynooth, near Dublin.
Irish police carried out a controlled explosion to make that safe in the early hours of this morning.
The second, found at a tram stop in Inchicore, Dublin, was made safe by the Irish army, but was later confirmed to be a hoax.
In the past 24 hours, police in London have also destroyed an abandoned suitcase in a controlled explosion in Trafalgar Square.
