Ron Paul Moneybomb Reaches 1Mil, May 6 2011

U. S. Election News

Texas Representative and Fox News/South Carolina GOP debate participant Ron Paul has utilized his unorthodox moneybomb campaign donation techniques for many of his campaigns, and according to his Presidential exploratory website, totals reached $1 million dollars just before 2AM Friday morning. The goal according to the donation “ticker” is $2 million dollars. Previous totals reported by USElectionNews.org were 630K, at around 6PM Thursday evening.

The “Debate Day Moneybomb” was first announced in late March, before it was confirmed that Paul would participate in the Fox News/SC GOP debate this evening. A previous moneybomb for Paul in February reached totals of $700K, today’s efforts could be well on their way to topping that number. The one day donation effort began this morning as Paul’s Facebook page reported a new CNN/Opinion Poll that showed Paul as holding 10% of the vote in a Presidential Primary poll, in fifth place behind Mike Huckabee, Donald Trump, Mitt Romney and Sarah Palin.

Paul’s debate responses were largely in line with his libertarian beliefs, advocating for the protection of personal liberties, encouraging state’s rights, and calling for the ending of foreign aid. Paul is often tagged as the intellectual grandfather of the Tea Party movement, and when asked if he felt “eclipsed” by Minnesota Representative Michelle Bachmann, the leader of the Tea Party caucus inside the House of Representatives, Paul smilingly replied, “Well, she is not here [at the debate], so no. I don’t feel threatened.”
