Vote for TSA Pat-Down Ban, June 22 2011

AUSTIN – Your next flight out of a Texas airport would be dramatically less personal if freshman State Representative David Simpson gets his way.

“There’s no federal statute requiring that they grope our private parts as a condition of travel,” said Simpson, R-Longview.

He says he’s heard from dozens of constituents who have been subject to invasive pat-downs after refusing to go through screening devices which can see through clothes.

“The scanners strip people virtually naked, and they’re treating your refusal to be irradiated — seen naked — as a reasonable suspicion. That’s wrong,” Simpson said.
