Yemen is "Worse Than Libya...", June 2 2011

Britain’s Foreign Office urged all residents to leave Yemen as the situation becomes “worse than Libya,” according to the Guardian.

Intense street battles between government and anti-government troops left at least 41 people dead, with many trapped in burning buildings.

President Saleh has refused to step down despite prodding from the U.S. and Saudi Arabia. He insists that stepping down would lead to civil war and the rise of Al Qaeda.

But we’re already close to war. An official tells the NYT: “This is the worst fighting we have seen since 1994,” when Yemen fought a two month civil war. “And it’s the worst fighting in Sana since the civil war of the 1960s.”
